With the 4th of July right around the corner, the summer holiday season is fully upon us. And amid all the vacation planning and fireworks and grilling and family, we want to take a moment and bring some awareness to a day in July that’s near and dear to us.
July 31st is National Mutt Day, and if you’ve even had an inkling of getting a dog before now, this is the perfect opportunity to bring that notion to life. There are thousands of healthy, loving mixed breed dogs throughout the country in need of a home, so consider making July 31st, or any day this summer, your family’s time to adopt.
Mutts behave much like purebreds, and while the lineage is unknown, their devotion, affection and loyalty is clear. Good dogs can be the product of a loving, caring home, no matter their parents or breed. Like us, we can learn and grow given the right situation, and so we’re hoping you’ll heed this call to adopt a mutt this summer.
If you’re interested in learning more, or if you’re interested in adopting a mutt right away, your best bet is to visit your local shelter to find the right dog for you. But even if the timing isn’t quite right, volunteering is always a great way to get involved and make a difference. You can also learn more online at the National Mutt Day website.
From our iVet family, here’s to finding some new homes for our canine friends in the upcoming months, and here’s to a safe and happy 4th of July to you and yours.
